A record 1.84 million 2014 high-school graduates took the ACT college readiness test, but only 39% met three or more benchmarks in English, math, reading and science. While some school districts have implemented four-day weeks to help cut costs, officials with an Oklahoma district said they piloted the shorter week to help recruit more teachers and curb student absences.
