A group of eighth-grade students in Connecticut learned angles, measurements and fractions while building 12-foot sailboats during a summer program. Va. district's computer-literacy camp reaches out to ELLs
A Virginia school district is tackling computer literacy among English-language learners by increasing their participation in a weeklong camp called CoderDojo. Educators said the camp, which reserved space for students whose families do not own computers, allows students to learn more about computers while boosting their comfort level with technology. New policy allows Mich. students to opt out of animal dissection
Under a new policy adopted by the Michigan State Board of Education, students can opt out of animal dissection. Instead, students would be permitted use a computer simulation program, an option that board members said could save districts money in the long run. The policy is similar to policies in place in 21 other states and the District of Columbia. MichiganRadio.org (8/3)
