Construction program teaches building to young students
Students at a day camp run by Construction Kids -- a program based in Brooklyn, N.Y. -- are learning by doing as they design and build board games, foosball tables and models of cities. The program, offered year round with a hope to soon serve more public schools, aims to shift kids away from computer screens and toward building things with their own hands. Some standardized tests no longer mandated by Tenn. district
A Tennessee school district no longer will require schools to administer the Discovery Education Assessments, which are given three times each year to help predict students' achievement on the end-of-the-year Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program.
