Three years later, some educators are praising the standards' emphasis on critical thinking. Still, some officials say it could be a few more years before test scores show whether the standards are working. | Iowa school district's academies accelerate students' career progress Sioux City Community Schools' students are getting a head start on their futures through a career academies program. In addition to earning high-school and college credits in a growing number of subjects, they can learn vocational skills, such as firefighting, from professionals.
